What is a Meatball Mozza Pot?

This is a melted mozzarella that is placed on top of six delicious meatballs in marinara sauce.
A delightful variation of a meatball recipe is these mozzarella meatballs. Simple homemade meatballs are excellent.
How to Prepare Meatball Mozza Pot

In a bowl, combine the beef mince with the breadcrumbs, lemon zest, egg, herbs, half the garlic, fennel seeds, and lots of freshly crushed black pepper.
Mix ingredients thoroughly, then divide into 12 equal-sized balls (each weighing around 60g). Each meatball should have a pocket created by pressing your thumb firmly into it.
Place a piece of mozzarella into each pocket, seal it, and then roll the meatball back into its original shape.
Cook the meatballs for 5 to 10 minutes over medium-high heat, tossing them often, until they are well-browned and have a good crust.
You can cook the remaining garlic for 2 minutes until fragrant in the remaining olive oil over medium heat.
Add the tomatoes or passata, season well, and simmer for 10 minutes or until thickened.
The meatballs should be added to the sauce and gently simmered for three to five minutes while being basted in the sauce. Remove from the heat and let stand for five minutes.
Cut the baguette lengthwise, but not all the way through, before opening it up to spoon the meatballs and sauce inside. When ready to serve, squeeze the baguette tight and top with a sprinkle of parmesan.
